In response to threats to the arts worldwide, a world-renowned orchestra and opera have united to create a silent album.

The album highlights the very real danger that could force lasting silence following two years of closures and cancellations.

The silent album features great classical works that see the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra (CPO ) and Cape Town Opera (CTO) standing up for one of humanity’s driving forces: creative expression - via a silent performance. With nine tracks total, the album boasts silent performances of everything from Symphony No.9 to a new, exclusive piece titled, Cwaka. The Silence.

With support from the world-renowned artist, William Kentridge, vinyl pressed records of the album have been created. These records (alongside a fine art print featuring Kentridge’s artwork and signature) are available in limited quantity.
