We fund research into type 1 diabetes to find a cure for type 1 diabetes

Story

Hi, we're a bunch of Dads - and friends of - who have a kid with Type 1 Diabetes so we're raising money for JDRF to help find a cure.

We are Alan Rick, Alistair Samuelson, Andrew Draper, Andrew Stroud, Daniel Hill, Darran Hall, David Reid, Gary Newell, Glynn Robinson, Jason Wills, John Attewell, Kev Winchcombe, Kevin Albin, Luc Agostini, Luke Gunner, Matt Butler, Matthew Kaye, Michael Didcock, Paul Smart, Peter Wilson, Prosper Watts, Shaun Barnett, Steve Gracey, Steve Rood, Stuart Radley, Tristan Fahy and Vincent Scaife.

We're not decent cyclists, some of us don't even own a bike (yet - hopefully that will change soon) so this will be a challenge for many of us.

The through-the-night element won't be too bad though as we're used to getting up at all hours to test our kids' blood glucose levels to keep them safe.

Keeping our kids' glucose levels in range is a constant balancing act, something similar to riding a unicycle, but perhaps we'll stick to two wheels for Nightrider.

Why do we need sponsorship? Because diabetes charities get very little funding, if anything, from Government and because without it the future for our kids will not get any better.

JDRF is the main charity solely for Type 1 Diabetes. Fundraising means they can grant research money to clever scientists who can hopefully find either a cure for Type 1 Diabetes, prevention techniques for others, or better tech to help our kids live with the condition.
