Story
I (Phil, not Mary) am planning to cycle to my parents home on Friday the 22nd of July... I have talked about it for too long and have decided to just get on with it before the days start to get too short again. The ride is 398km, my brother and I are planning to start when the sunrises and will hopefully arrive before the batteries in our bike lights run out.
To my mind this is worth doing 'just for fun'... however my wife Mary thinks it would be better to try and raise money for charity at the same time.
She has been involved in a charity called Wonder Foundation https://wonderfoundation.org.uk/ which is focused on support female education around the world. They support different projects around the world. One specific project Wonder supports is the Pearlcrest Institute in Uganda who are looking for the funds to purchase a minibus to provide transport for their students to get to school who otherwise would have to walk 35km a day. A minibus costs 20k euros and would enable the students to get to school safely. The school provides vocational training with excellent employment routes and a life out of poverty, increase in self confidence and a doubling of family income within 6 months.
