Very sadly and unexpectedly in March 2020 Emilia, one of our Seahorses at Meoncross Nursery passed away from sepsis following an undiagnosed invasive strep A infection. Emilia was the daughter of one our lovely teachers. Emilia enjoyed nursery, doing ballet with Miss Lucy, eating fish and chips on Fridays and playing with her friends. She loved being in the Nativity and said she wanted to be Joseph next year!
Emilia was a very active little girl, playing tennis, swimming, trampolining, doing forest school, copying her sister's gymnastics and dance moves and enjoyed coming along on family cycle rides (though, according to Mrs Lopez, she often fell asleep!)
For the third time, we're participating in the Sepsis Trust's Cycle4Sepsis Challenge as a school, with us raking up as many miles as possible. As well as cycling, we're counting miles walked, ran, swam and even on horseback! You can follow the miles we have done on this page.
We ran a special competition this year too with our pupils competing to design a t-shirt for the occasion. This fabulous t-shirt will be available to buy shortly with profits going to this page! Wearing this t-shirt helps raise awareness and start conversations.
Every year in the UK, sepsis kills at least 48,000 people. With better awareness, thousands of these lives could be saved. As well as raising awareness, the Sepsis Trust also supports families affected by sepsis through therapy and counselling. They have also since March been supporting those affected by Covid-19. Your donations make a real difference and we thank you!
