Well, we did the bike ride. All of us deserve a massive ‘well done’ for all our efforts. Every single one of us played a part in making it a success. That includes those who donated, cycled, played music on Sat night, prepared and bought food, planned it, organised other fund raising events and provided - maps, technical and other support, transport and the hall. After expenses we raised a total of £5,756.20

West End Refugee Service (WERS) is a highly regarded registered charity which provides support services for asylum seekers and refugees in the West End of Newcastle. Many are literally destitute.

The support includes small emergency payments and food parcels, when funds permit. The fund has become the sole means of support for an increasing number of people. 

 

A group of us are doing a bike ride to raise funds for WERS. The bike ride is about 75 miles over two days, which for some of us, may be a bit of a pain! We last did this ride over 20 years ago to support Nicaragua.  This time, we are getting back on our bikes to support people a bit closer to home, who ironically, are from all over the world!
