Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our Just Giving page. Hannah, Katie, Maia, Charlotte and Larissa all know of young people in their schools with Type 1 diabetes and Emily herself is a Type 1 diabetic. Type 1 diabetes isn’t caused by poor diet or anything that you did or didn’t do. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune condition, your immune system which is meant to protect you from viruses and bacteria attacks and destroys the insulin producing cells in your pancreas. This is a lifelong condition as presently there is no cure. Emily and other Type 1 diabetics have to endure the same daily procedure: 6-8 finger prick blood tests and 4-6 injections (or pump infusions ) every day in order to stay alive. Please help us support JDRF.
