Story
Thanks for supporting my fundraising for Macmillan.
I was diagnosed with Oesophageal and Stomach Cancer in 2019 at age 53. Following tests, scans and exploratory procedures I received my first course of chemotherapy at the Macmillan Cancer Centre in the Lister Hospital, Stevenage. This was followed by surgery at Imperial in London, which resulted in the complete removal of my stomach and 70+ lymph nodes. A further course of chemotherapy followed in 2020, just as we entered lock down. Now over two years later, I am still cancer free and receive regular scans and meetings with the excellent oncology and surgical teams at the Centre.
As well as my own family's journey, I know of several other friends and family who have recently been diagnosed or touched by cancer. This challenge is my way of paying something back.
