What is the Mallorca 312?
The Mallorca 312 is a challenging sportive which is a 312km long rote and covers over 5000m over elevation with a cut off time of 14 hours to complete the entire event.

So why am I fund raising?
Like many other people I was bullied as a child and this went all the way through to my late teens until I left college, I was shot with air rifles, burnt, spat at, beaten up, balls kicked at my face and the usual name calling. 

As you can imagine these events have stayed with me and have defiantly left their mark, physically and mentally and to be honest it is something I have always felt shame or disappointment in myself about, why did I not stand up for myself and why did I allow it to happen? I guess because I was scared and I didn't have the confidence to do it. 

I turned to sport for an escape and a place where I could focus on something else and I was pretty good at it which helped my confidence. 

Now I am in my early 30s and a father of my own child the perspective has switched and I want to do everything in my power as parent to put my child in the best possible position to avoid what I went through and I also decided that I want to share my story and if that helps even 1 other child avoid being a victim of a bully then that is amazing! 

I have chosen to partner with Kidscape because they are a proactive and approachable charity. Kidscape works directly with children and families experiencing bullying, across the UK. We provide workshops for children and their families, teaching confidence and assertiveness skills to tackle a bullying situation. We provide practical support and telephone advice to parents and carers worried about bullying situations. We also train professionals in how to challenge and prevent bullying in schools.
