Story

We all know I'm a massive naval history geek by now, or at least John Humphrys and THAT black chair do...

I've wanted to complete the 271 mile Trafalgar Way from Pendennis Point to the Admiralty in London for years, but this year is the year I'll do it, finishing at Nelson's Column on 21st October.

Inspiration to actually plan? I attended the Gold Awards in May and heard people talking about the D of E Challenge - and doing something you usually wouldn't, pushing your comfort zone boundaries.

Cycling is not my sport, I've never loved it, it's just a way for me to get to work, but this year I'll be cycling the route taken by Lieutenant Lapenotière from HMS Pickle, taking news of victory at Trafalgar and of Nelson's death.

A way to #GetOutside with a geeky Kate like twist 🙈

Maybe I'll even end up enjoying cycling...
