Welfare Association works with some of the most marginalised Palestinian communities in the West Bank and Gaza and in the refugee camps and gatherings in Lebanon to overcome poverty. We provide support for health, education, emergency relief and livelihoods, especially for children and the disabled.

Dear Friends of Gaza,

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page! We are delighted that you have come to support us and our cause.

OUR MISSION: To cycle Aqaba to Dead Sea to Athens covering 347 Kms over 3 days.

OUR AIM: To raise awareness about the ongoing suffering of the children of Gaza as a result of the ongoing conflict in that Strip and to raise the necessary funds to support Welfare Association's initiative in rehabitilating needy children.

WHEN: We will start cycling on December 8th in Aqaba with the aim to reach the Dead Sea on December 10th, 2011.

THE TEAM: Mohammed Tahboub, Shaima Tahboub, Razan Alzayani, Joumana Al Jabari, Dina Ghandour

Note: This challenge has been moved from Greece Oct. 20th to 22nd to Jordan Dec. 8th to 10th due to the unrest in the Greek capital.

THE BENEFITING ASSOCIATIONS IN GAZA:

1. The National Society for Rehabilitation: in Khan Younis and Rafah will support 650 children with disabilities by: providing rehabilitation services, providing psychosocial support services for children and their families enabling them to cope.

2. Society for the Care of the Handicapped in the Gaza Strip, ‘Sun Centre Children’s Club’ will support 180 children by: assessing needs and supporting their learning disabilities.

3. Nour El Marifa Association ‘Friendly Learning Spaces’ will invite 250 children with special needs and learning difficulties from some of the most impoverished areas in the middle of Gaza (Nusierat, Breij, Mghazi, Deir El Balah, Joher el Deik and Zawaida) and support them in basic skill development in Arabic, English and Maths.
