The cycling jerseys have arrived. Better double the training or i'll spend each morning of the ride crying into my low fat muesli
Martin Baker, Paul Wainwright, Anthony Denton and Richard Wood are all members of the Barclays Business leadership team for the North West UK.
On Sunday 25th September the "cycling4macmillan" team will set off from Scotland and travel through all 8 "areas" of the North West UK region, calling in at branches to raise awareness of the Macmillan fundraising activities, talk to colleagues, customers and members of the local media.
Over the course of 3 days the intrepid foursome hope to cover 250 miles. We start in Dumfries and finish in Wrexham on Wednesday 28th September.
On Friday 30th September we hope to have 285 Barclays branches holding coffee mornings in branches and at our customers coffee shops, restaurants and public houses. Our goal is to raise over £50,000 in total with £5,000 coming from the cycling4macmillan ride.
Regional Director of Barclays Business in the North West UK comments, "We wanted to do something that would really raise the profile of our wider Macmillan fundraising campaign. This is our way of showing support to our fabulous Barclays colleagues who are raising money over the 5 weeks leading up to September 30th. It is almost 15 years since Ant and I have sat on a bike but with our seasoned cyclist friends Paul and Richard I'm sure we'll make it! Our team are counting on us and we won't let them down!"
