Friends of Alalay (Santa Cruz) is a non-political, non-religious charity, registered in the UK (registered charity no. 1123425), which supports a ‘parent’ organisation, Alalay , in Bolivia. Alalay (the parent organisation), helps street children by providing a selection of services, including drug rehab, education and safe living accommodation (in an out-of-town centre called the ‘aldea’). Friends of Alalay (Santa Cruz), funds projects that will make Alalay self sustainable, so it is no longer reliant on donations and will therefore have a more secure and stable future.

I wish to support and promote Friends of Alalay (Santa Cruz), as I not only believe in their aims, but also as I am constantly impressed and admire how they set about achieving them. All money raised by Friends of Alalay (Santa Cruz) goes directly to help the street kids, not towards the admin costs of running the charity, which are funded by the volunteers who run the charity.

There is the tangible, achievable goal: to make the organisation Alalay financially self -supporting, through creating sustainable projects that will provide an income for the organisation and life skills for the children. Successful projects to date include: a bakery, a large vegetable garden, a textile unit and a chicken farm.
