EJF -Environmental Justice Foundation

We investigate, expose, campaign to protect the environment and human rights

Charity Registration No. 1088128

This July Cyclodelic are hitting the tarmac two wheeled style (is there any other?) to raise money for Charity. So that's me, Amy Fleuriot & top team member Xanthe Goode pedaling from London to Paris, 300 miles over 4 days to raise money & hopefully awareness for the fantastic charity that is the Environmental Justice Foundation.

EJF is a relatively small charity but their campaigns are life changing at a grass roots level. They do a great job working to get justice for people in many of the poorest countries whose lives and natural environments are threatened by corruption and greed. From preventing chronic health impacts associated with pesticide poisoning by securing national and global bans on the most toxic pesticides, to protecting our oceans and the communities that most depend on them, from illegal pirate fishing - and a huge amount in the middle for climate refugees, shrimp and cotton production...they do a big job with little money and so they really need our support.

During Spring 2009 we were  first made aware of the small but mighty charity EJF. They were staging an event at London Fashion Week to raise awareness for their first sponsored bike ride entitled 'The Great Fashion Cycle' in aid of their cotton Campaign.  If you watch the video  ‘White Gold – The True Cost of Cotton’  you can see why this campaign has attracted high profile support from the fashion world.  After all, wearing a charitable badge on your sleeve is fantastic, but when your sleeve happens to be manufactured at a cost to human rights & environmental calamity, well that really just won't do. In summer 2010 we are going to work up a healthy sweat & test our tires to raise as much money as we can for EJF & the masses of people whose quality of life is improved by their work.

Now, being as we are not happy to look anything other than polished whilst mounted on our steel (or indeed aluminium) steeds & given that we are after all going to end up in Paris & that the ride is entitled 'The Great Fashion Cycle', we wouldn't want to arrive in Paris underdressed & looking like lycra fetishists, so we are going to do this ride sans lycra & wearing the finest clothing that we can beg, borrow or steal from whoever is willing to help us in our mission.

Please sponsor us in our cycling fashion follie, & help us raise funds for EJF so they can keep working to put an end to the folly of governments & big businesses who have long stopped caring about their social & environmental impact.

So please don't delay, dig deep TODAY and donate as much as you can (even the smallest amount helps!) via our JustGiving site to help us make a difference!
