In celebration of what would have been Lochlan's 1st birthday on 17th March and in memory of what will be a year since he left us on the 4th August, I am doing a number of challenges throughout the year to raise money for a small but essential charity. I am raising money for the Brightest Star charity. This is a small charity set up by a mum who also lost her little boy and found that there was very little help for parents who have lost a child. Brightest star provide free counselling to broken hearted parents to help then learn how to deal with the loss of their child and help them learn how to rebuild their lives. They provide memory box's to allow parents to have a lock of their child's hair or a hand and foot print. In addition to all of this they fund a family ambulance to allow parents to travel with their sick child to hospital when otherwise it wouldn't have been allowed. They provide support for siblings of children who have passed away giving them the opportunity to go on trips out with their family.
Brightest star has been invaluable to us in helping us learn how to live without Lochlan and to pay back some of that kindness and support I am running:
Clydebank half marathon on 15th March 2020 (2 days before lochlan's birthday)

Triathlon on 16th August 2020

Edinburgh half marathon on 24thMay (the anniversary of lochlan's open heart surgery)

Glasgow half marathon on 4th October

The Cobbler walk on 16th May 2020

We are donating any money we would have spent on Lochlan's birthday presents to the charity and we know you have all been very generous in giving since Lochlan passed but if you have any spare pennies they would go a long way to helping this little charity continue providing support for parents and families like ours.
