Story
Lake District 24 in 24 Challenge! In memory of our dad (and father-in-law), Kevin; Rob, Chris, and Clare will be completing the 24 peaks in 24 hours challenge! Yes 24 peaks! We are raising money for Kate’s nurses. Kate’s Nurses are a charity offering special palliative care for people in their homes and bereavement care to those left behind. This allows people like Kevin to spend their last days and hours surrounded by the people they love in the comfort of their own home. Anybody who’s held someone’s hand through the final days of cancer will know how important this is for families. Kevin died during Covid visiting restrictions, so it was especially significant. Dad lived in and loved the Lake District and was at his happiest up the fells. He had climbed all 214 many times over! We’ve chosen this challenge as a fitting tribute. But it’s not for the faint hearted! Lakeland ascents who we will be climbing with describe the challenge as follows; ’The 24 Peaks Challenge is a demanding walk, taking in 24 Lake District peaks over significant mileage and practically climbing the height of Mont Blanc in just 24 hours of walking time. You’ll walk 35 miles with 13,000ft of ascent in just 24 hours on your feet.’ So for any donations to a wonderful charity, use the link below; Kate’s Nurses are much appreciative of your donation, Rob, Chris & Clare Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
