Each year, Orbis Ireland sends a team of runners to compete in the run. This is a huge fundraiser for Orbis Ireland and over the last nine
years, the participants have raised almost €750,000 to take part! The run itself is a challenging 10km run at 10,000ft above sea level. On the day, 40,000 runners from a variety of age groups and fitness levels will take to thestreets of Addis Ababa to compete.

Up to half of children in developing countries who become blind will die within 2 years, yet 80% of visual impairment can be avoided or cured.  By participating in The Great Ethiopian Run we are hoping to raise funding to support Orbis in their fight against blindness and make quality eye care available to everyone.

€10 donation will guy antibiotics for 65 children with eye infections; €60 will pay for 10 sight saving surgeries; €300 will train an integrated eye-care worker to perform a sight saving surgery; €400 will provide clean water for 100 households.
