Daemonn's 2019 Events: Nightrider, RideLondon, SwimSerpentine & Revolution

2019 Events: Nightrider, RideLondon, SwimSerpentine, Revolution · 21 March 2019
This summers challenges are:
Dulux London Revolution 300km - Saturday 11 May 2019 to Sunday 12 May 2019 - 2,500 riders, 300Km, total ascent of 9,411ft, 360 degrees around London! Fortunately there is a chance to sleep in a field overnight (okay, Windsor racecourse).
No road closures, so day 1 is Lee Valley, south down to the city, through Southwark and out down to north downs, when bad hills start, once out of that, loop round west towards Dorking direction, and head north up to Guildford, Woking, and onto Windsor. After a restful night.. north to High Wycombe (and the Chilterns) and across the hills eastbound above Watford and off in the direction of Epping Forest and back to Lee Valley.
Seems easy?
Then the Nightrider London - 8th June 2019 into Sunday 9th June - I have an 11pm wave start on this 100km route from the Olympic Park, along north London towards Holloway, then up Hampstead, down through Camden towards Madame Tussauds, south towards Hyde Park, then along the riverside and a loop through the City of London before heading down via Bermondsey down towards Blackheath then looping south and back west towards Forest Hill, down towards the Crystal Palace, before starting a hideous run up towards Camberwell and Southwark (that's uphill) before crossing into home territory of East London and back towards the Olympic Park.. and all overnight in the dark, with traffic. What's likely to go wrong there?
Then on Sunday 4th August 2019 - Ride London 100m (hoping for no rain this year!) cycle from the Olympic Park again, riding through the closed roads of London out towards West London then into deep (and very very hilly) Surrey. Its similar route to Revolution and has Box Hill and Leith Hill which it vertical as I see it... anyway, once out of all that, there is another sedate but challenging hill at Wimbledon. then its along the embankment and off to the Mall for the finish.
In September, Saturday 21st it's SwimSerpentine in Hyde Park. It's chillier than you think, but its an excuse to wear a wetsuit of course and a fabulous swim cap. Its a really great day out with swimmers of all ages, sizes and styles swimming in the remarkably choppy and duck filled lake. Its 5.3 metres deep - so no resting till its done.
Macmillan
This year I am supporting Macmillan again - they do fabulous work supporting those touched by Cancer. We also support them as our corporate charity at Six Degrees.
Macmillan support people through diagnosis, treatment and beyond, and provide practical as well as personal support. They help educate, support, campaign and train. They are there on a journey with people when at their very lowest and who need someone. So please support them by donating. They are fantastic people.
Not doing it alone this year: once again my good mate Adam Smith is also doing all these events. If you see us on the route.. shout out (and more importantly for me.. point me in the direction of life giving Victoria Sponge!).
