Running the Dublin Marathon to raise money for MND Association

Glyn Darkin is raising money for Motor Neurone Disease Association
In memory of Dai Darkin
Motor Neurone Disease moves fast. It takes away time, it takes away independence and it has no cure. Every day we support people affected by MND. We fund ground-breaking research. We campaign for better care. We’re here for everyone who needs us. Because with MND, every day matters.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As many of you may know, my wonderful dad, Dai sadly passed away in April 2022 after a 14 month battle with MND.

MND effects up to 5000 adults at any one time in the UK and 300 adults at any one time in Ireland. We don't definitively know why people get it, there is no cure, and care is limited to making the sufferer as comfortable as possible, for as long as they have left with us.

From diagnosis and throughout dad's journey, the MND Association were there to support, advise and provide council for dad, mum, Deri and I.  We are indebted to everyone involved for the support, advice and understanding they offered us during some of the most difficult times of our lives.

So in support of the MDA associations (UK & IRL), all their wonderful volunteers and everyone affected by this terrible disease, I have taken on the challenge of running the Dublin Marathon this Sunday, October 29th.  This will be a first (and maybe the last!) for me, something I never thought I would do, but if there is ever a time....it is now.

Many thanks for any contribution you can make. G
