While the world's elite athletes are busy preparing for the 2012 London Olympics, Dains is gearing up for an Olympic style challenge of our own...

Dains has always been committed to supporting worthy causes, which is why we are delighted to be taking part in the UK200 Group's Not the Olympics 2012 event. The event is taking place in order to raise £100,000 for the Alzheimer's Society.

The Not the Olympics 2012 event runs from May to November this year and participating members of the UK200 Group will be tasked with relaying a mock Olympic torch across the UK. The torch can be transported via any mode of transport other than a modern car.
The torch will travel the length of the UK before it reaches the Olympic Stadium in November.

On Saturday 25 June 2011, Dains will be accepting the ‘Not the Olympics 2012’ torch at our Derby office from Howard Worth Accountants.  It will then be relayed through each of our offices by staff dressed in a variety of ‘suits’ as they carry the torch through each town

Leg 1
On Saturday 25 June 2011 Debbie Bostock and Anna Hall will commence the 20 mile trek to our Burton office dressed in romper suits...as this is the longest relay leg, they will pass the torch to Partner Lisa Richards and Steph Pardoe halfway along the route who will ensure that the torch reaches the Burton office for Monday morning...

Leg 2
On Monday 27 June 2011, Chief Executive Spencer Wright and Business Development Partner Richard McNeilly will mount a tandem and navigate their way 14 miles to the Rugeley office in
Shell suits...

Leg 3
Tuesday 28 June 2011 sees Mark Gurney, Elaine Smith and HR Partner Mike Castree depart the Rugeley office power walking 7 miles to the Lichfield office in ‘life is a...cabaret’ suits...

Leg 4
Greg Pitts and Phil Burnell will ‘get on their bikes’ on Wednesday 29 June 2011 and head to the Fort Dunlop, our Birmingham office in wet suits....lets hope they don’t restrict them too much for the 14 mile ride...

Leg 5
For the fifth and final leg of the challenge on 30 June 2011 , Senior Partner Martin Smith ,together with  Lynne Gorman,  Sarah Hilton, Claire Butler, Andrew Orgill, Alexandra Vaughan, Georgina Felles and Tax Partner  Andy  McQuillan will make their way to  JE Consulting in Sutton Coldfield to hand over the torch to their team of Super Heroes. The final team’s attire and mode of transport are currently under wraps...
