Chelmsford Half Marathon · 3 October 2021

Every two hours, someone in the UK will become paralysed. Globally, it is estimated that 15.4 million people are living with paralysis. At Spinal Research our vision is to create a world where paralysis can be cured, no matter when the injury occurred or where in the world.

Story

I have decided to run the Chelmsford Half Marathon to
raise awareness on spinal cord injuries.

My uncle Robert Bullough has recently experienced a tragic fall and has found himself with life changing spinal cord injuries. I never in a million years thought such a devastating situation would happen to someone in my family, but unfortunately it has…

Therefore, I have decided to raise money for https://spinal-research.org/.  Spinal Research is the UK’s leading charity funding medical research around the world to develop effective treatments for paralysis caused by spinal cord injury. Every year 1,000 people in the UK and Ireland are paralysed following an injury to their spinal cord. They receive no government funding and rely entirely on the support of the public to raise funds for our research.

My uncle and everyone who loves him have some truly testing times ahead and I hope every penny I raise will help this fantastic organization develop some new and innovative treatments for his future and everyone else who has unfortunately found themselves in a similar situation.
