24 Hour Bike Ride · 26 February 2021

The UK's leading racial justice think tank. Our work is rooted in challenging structural racism and its impact on our communities. Proudly independent, we speak truth to power on race and racism without fear or favour. We are not swayed by political agenda, profit or popular opinion.

Story

I am excited (and terrified) to say that on the 26th of February at 7pm, I will be embarking on a 24 hour bike ride using my peloton in my bedroom. As you can see by my lack of abs, I am no pro athlete meaning this is going to be both a mental and physical challenge.

I am raising money for three incredible charities:

The Runnymede Trust - Runnymede is working to build a Britain in which all citizens and communities feel valued, enjoy equal opportunities, lead fulfilling lives, and share a common sense of belonging. Runnymede is the UK's leading independent race equality think tank. They generate intelligence to challenge race inequality in Britain through research, network building, leading debate, and policy engagement.

The Survivors Trust - Every five minutes in the UK someone is raped. One in four women and one in six men have experienced sexual violence. 15% of girls and 5% of boys have experienced sexual violence by the time they are sixteen. The Survivors Trust is the largest umbrella agency for specialist rape and sexual abuse services in the UK and has been providing infrastructure support for the past 15 years. They have 124 agencies based in the UK and Ireland providing information, advice, support and therapy to over 80,000 individual survivors each year.

Alzheimer’s Research UK - For my grandad who is currently suffering from Alzheimer’s and Dementia. Alzheimer’s Research UK is the UK's leading dementia research charity, dedicated to causes, diagnosis, prevention, treatment and cure. Backed by passionate scientists and supporters, they are challenging the way people think about dementia, uniting the big thinkers in the field and funding the innovative science that will deliver a cure.

I would appreciate any donations you can give in support of my ride and these amazing charities. I would love equal donations across each charity so if one is behind then please pay it a little extra attention but if one is close to your heart then please go ahead and donate to that one.

Thank you and wish me luck!
