Great South Run 2022 · 16 October 2022 ·

Every two hours, someone in the UK will become paralysed. Globally, it is estimated that 15.4 million people are living with paralysis. At Spinal Research our vision is to create a world where paralysis can be cured, no matter when the injury occurred or where in the world.

Story

In 2019 I ran the GSR in 1 hour 23 minutes, and I was frustrated it wasn't under 1 hour 20. I had a place in 2020, but COVID happened. Again had a place for 2021, but this time my injury happened.

So this year I will be doing it in my wheelchair aiming to beat 1 hour 20. And I will be raising money for a cause rather close to me these days; Spinal Research.

In the last 6 months I have learned a lot about research into curing a spinal cord injury. It's incredibly complex and will likely happen with incremental improvements over many years. But there are already some amazing clinical trials happening in humans right now, and who knows how far it will get in my lifetime.

It also really appeals to the massive nerd inside me. 😂

So if you can, please support me raising money for Spinal Research while I finally beat a 1 hour 20 GSR.
