Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Following the recent death of our beloved Mum and Aunty on 7th February 2017 after a five year battle with ovarian cancer, we have decided to attempt to complete the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in June 2017!

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge involves walking 24 miles, climbing 3 mountains (Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough), including approximately 5200ft of ascending  all in under 12 hours.

We decided to take on this challenge as a way of doing something special together as a family to remember our mum. We thought this would be a good way to remember mum and her love of the countryside. Taking part in the challenge will be Pam's sons Damian, Greg and Timothy and Pam's nephews Mike and Chris. Dad will also be there, although not doing the walk, he will be there providing moral support and assistance at various points along the way.

We have taken the decision to fundraise for the Macmillan cancer charity. The main reasons for this are that they provided a tremendous support to mum and the family whilst mum was unwell. Particularly in her last few weeks when mum was at home and had become increasingly dependant on support.

Fundraising is hugely important to Macmillan. Without people doing events, running marathons, climbing mountains, and donating in all the other ways that you can, Macmillan wouldn’t exist.Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs.
