Event: 50th Dysart's Snowmobile Ride-In & Q106.5 Egg Ride, on 4 February 2023
Beginning in 1974, the Ride-in to benefit Pine Tree Camp has become a tradition with snowmobilers riding to support Pine Tree Camp, a summer camp for Maine children and adults with disabilities.

Story

Pine Tree Camp opened its gates in 1945 as a summer camp for children with physical disabilities. Over the years, it has evolved into a place where children and adults with disabilities are able to participate in all the recreational activities for which Maine is known all year long. The barrier-free setting, along with an amazing staff, ensure that activities like swimming, fishing, kayaking, hiking, boating and even camping in a tent under the stars are completely accessible to all. Participating in activities that take people beyond their disability has a tremendous impact. It builds self-esteem and self-confidence. That experience coupled with meeting friends who understand and experiencing the feeling of acceptance is transformational. Pine Tree Camp welcomes all who could benefit regardless of their ability to pay tuition. All proceeds from the Snowmobile Ride-In will go to Pine Tree Camp's fund to ensure this "Open Door Policy" remains in effect.

Get to Know Dan Cashman and Christie Robinson
Celebrity rider Dan Cashman is well-known as host of The Nite Show, which took home a Telly Award for excellence in TV and the first ever Arts & Culture Award from the Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce. He’s a public relations pro who grew up in Old Town, attended the University of Maine and is happy to call Maine home.

Celebrity rider Christie Robinson is a familiar face on TV and the stage. She’s cohost of the Telly Award-winning The Nite Show and longtime actor at Penobscot Theatre. A native of Bucksport, she attended the University of Maine, Farmington and earned her MFA in acting at the University of Florida where she discovered that she actually missed winter.

Have you ridden a snowmobile before?
Dan: Until last year’s Egg Ride, I had only driven a snowmobile once. It was exciting to go on a more lengthy ride!

Christie: I’m going to sound like such a bad Mainer but, no, until last year’s Egg Ride, I hadn’t. Let’s just say that It was a colorful first ride!

Do you like winter?
Dan: I love what you can do in the winter that you can’t do any other time of the year in Maine. I love having snowball fights and going sledding with my kids.

Christie: I do like winter, as long as it’s over by Valentine’s Day! I lived in Florida for a few years and I missed walking outside in temperatures so cold that it makes your face hurt. Believe it or not, I actually missed that!

Why is this snowmobile ride meaningful to you?
Dan: Pine Tree Camp struck a chord with me. Their work is so vital. You can see the impact they have just from the looks on the faces of the campers; the pictures tell it all. I was honored to be asked to be a celebrity rider.

Christie: Pine Tree Camp was the hot place to work when I was in college. I had a lot of friends who worked there so I’m familiar with the good work Pine Tree Camp does. It’s all inclusive and the impact of what they do is so powerful. I really believe in everybody having the chance to have different life experiences and make new memories. I stand behind Pine Tree Camp 1,000 percent.

What is your favorite song right now?
Dan: One of the things I decided in middle school was that I was going to choose my five favorite songs and never tell anybody what they were…. Somewhere Over the Rainbow is my favorite song and has been for a long, long time. I guess you didn’t have to twist my arm too hard to tell you!

Christie: An oldie but goodie that I love is Kygo’s Higher Love remake with Whitney Houston. It’s such a feel-good song. I love the original by Steve Winwood too, but this remake is especially good - they didn’t wreck it!
