Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am taking part in the London to Brighton bike ride this year. The reason I want to do this is to help raise money for the BHF who research cures for heart disease and congenital heart defects. Both my girlfriend Millie and her younger brother Max were born with transposition of great arteries. They had open heart surgery when they were just days old so without this research they may not be here now. I also want to try and beat last years time of 5 hours 30 minutes which Millie and others completed the ride in.

When Millie was born the doctors knew there was something wrong with her heart. She was a blueish colour and was grunting. She was taken to GOSH in an ambulance and left behind very upset and stressed mum and dad. As soon as Millie arrived at GOSH She had an emergency procedure called a balloon septostomy and at 13 days old open heart surgery and had an arterial switch operation. It was successful and 13 days after She went home. Much to the relief of my mum and dad! Four years later my brother was born with the same condition and we went through the same process much to her mum and dad's shock.
