Story
The aim of this page is to raise money for Brainstrust.
A year ago my mum Linda lost her beloved husband, Derrick; my brother and I lost our dad and many other people lost a great friend and relative.
Derrick was diagnosed with a level 4 brain tumour which he fought with great courage, determination and humour but sadly after a long and hard battle the cancer won. A brain tumour is in many ways the cruellest of cancers as it first of all changes the personality of the person you love, taking away their memory and understanding before finally taking them away. It is a two stage loss, first of the mind and then the body.
Brainstrust is a charity that offers practical and emotional help to brain tumour sufferers and their families. Brainstrust doesn’t get as much press as other cancer charities so we want to do what we can to raise money to help.
The reason for this page is to sponsor three members of our family Dave, Rob and Elise as they tackle their first full marathon, the Milton Keynes inaugural marathon on 29 April 2012.
They are training hard despite problems caused by various injuries, busy lives and less than ideal weather conditions. We appreciate their dedication and efforts and we wish them the best of luck.
The picture below shows them after a training CaniX event, let’s hope they look as good after 26 plus miles!
