It's been ages since I have run for charity, last time being the London Marathon in 2012. 

Through my work, I am aware of the impact Norwich City Community Sports Foundation has in Norwich and Norfolk, working with children and schools, often giving children the opportunity to take-part in sports  and activities that they may not get the chance to otherwise, including the National Citizen Service. They also support adults with disabilities. 

When I reflect on my school and social life as a child, it is filled with memories of sport and activity. Perhaps there was not much else to do, but I feel strongly that sport and the health and social benefits it provided helped me grow as a child, meet different people and let off the pressure of school and growing up. I firmly believe it's the reason I am still active in adulthood and with the same passion for sport. 

The world is a different place, with different distractions and complexities, but the programmes this charity provides communities and schools helps to keep sport and health part of children's lives and the curriculum. With a third of 10-11 year-olds and over a fifth of 4-5 year olds overweight or obese,  sport and health programmes, such as those provided by this charity are in my view, critical.
