Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Welcome friends, one and all!

This journey started not long after LDU 2017 when Trudy suggested she'd like to attempt the next longest day event, that would make us the first man and wife to take part as participants!

The plan was to use the GS500 from LDU 16 and find one other bike..in true LDU style the pink VFR was won on eBay without even looking at it!(huge thanks to previous owner TOMMO who's help and hospitality really saved collection day)

The red VFR was suggested by our good friend Kev, who's dad was willing to lend us the bike. This would mean we had similar (ish) performance and tank range.

We delivered the bikes to the very understanding service team at Vertu Honda Nottingham, Lee, Tony and Stu spent the dark winter months preparing the bikes for MOT and 2000 miles. Surprisingly the pink VFR needed very little (throttle cables, a rear tyre and headlight bulb for the MOT) whereas the red VFR needed a full carb strip clean and rebuild so that it would run on 4 cylinders, new brake discs, pads and callipers strip and rebuild to get the wheels to rotate correctly, a radiator that didn't leak and a full fluid service.

Now the bikes are ready, we have to prepare ourselves. Please see our updates...

Guess who gets to ride the pink VFR?

Cheers

Dan and Trudy
