Leukaemia Care provides vital support, information and advice to anyone whose life has been affected by a blood cancer. We not only support patients, but carers and families too whose lives are impacted when someone they know and loves receives a diagnosis.

Story

Hello, firstly can I thank you for taking the time out of your day to read and hopefully donate to my cause.

I want to start by sharing with you all what I’m doing and to be honest any of you that know me, know I’m an overweight, middle aged man probably going through a mid life crisis but if I’m being honest at the turn of the year I wanted to do do something good and give back after a torrid few years.

So foolishly or not we’ll see, I thought running.. something I can do to a degree (I think) let’s not make it easy so I decided initially that I was going to run a 10km race every month for the year (Decembers pending, as I like the idea of the Santa dash again)

Wolves 10k - 27th March 2022

Chasewater 10k - 17th April 2022

Great Birmingham Run 10k - 1st May 2022

Cannock Chase Chase the Sun 10k - 28th June 2022

Tatton Park 10k - 16th July 2022

Tittesworth Water 10k - 6th August 2022

Cardiff 10k - 4th September 2022

Ascott under Wychwood 10k - 30th October 2022

Lobster Lollop 10k - 19th November 2022

I have signed up for all of these races

As if this wasn’t enough I decided that I’m not going to do things in half’s so I will apply for the London Marathon. I remember back in year 10/11 of school (along time ago) one of my life achievements would be to run the London Marathon, this desire has stayed with me all this time. Anyone knows that dreams can come true and mine has thanks to Leukaemia Care an amazing charity that’s helped so many people around the country.

Leukaemia Care is a national blood cancer support charity. Who are dedicated to ensuring that anyone affected by blood cancer receives the right information, advice and support.

A diagnosis of a blood cancer can have a huge impact on someone emotionally, as well as physically. They understand that feelings of shock, anger and loneliness are all common at the time of diagnosis, during treatment and recovery and having someone to talk to, as well as the right information available can be a huge comfort.

Theyre not only support patients, but carers and families too who can often carry a lot of the emotional strain when someone they love is diagnosed with a blood cancer.

And focus on the support that is needed now to help those affected by blood cancer cope during a diagnosis and beyond.

I couldn’t imagine the pain, anguish and discomfort people who suffer with Leukaemia go through and I’m certainly not going to try and imagine but what I am going to do is break my body down trying to ensure that I and hopefully all you wonderful people who donate can stand up and say we helped, we gave someone a chance.

So on the 2nd October 2022 I will finally get to fulfil a life long ambition by running the London Marathon in the hope that my life long ambition can assist people in need a long life, you can help me by simply donating, no matter how big or small the donation is it all makes a difference to changing someone’s life.

By the end of 2022 I should have completed 9 10k runs a 5k Santa Dash and a Marathon.. if I can find time to do all of that at 20st (hopefully not by the end of the year) then please surely you can donate some money to a great cause.

Thank you for taking your time to read this that alone is raising awareness but let’s take it a step further.
