Dan & Chris are climbing two mountains! · 22 May 2010

Far too many of us have felt the pain of losing someone we love. With your donations, we power groundbreaking cardiovascular research to save and improve lives, bring hope to families, and keep hearts beating across the UK.

Story

Hi, we are Chris and Dan from Kettering, Northants - Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

This May, we will be putting ourselves to the test in the name of charity, and are sure that you will agree that the two charities which we have chosen to support are extremely worthwhile causes.

The British Heart Foundation aims to pioneer research and treatment in every aspect of heart disease, improving treatment and surgical techniques, whilst providing support for hospitals, emergency services and first-aiders across the country.

You can support this worthwhile cause by supporting us in our endeavors.

On the 22nd May 2010, we will be heading to Inverie in the Knoydart region of Scotland to climb all 3,346ft to the summit of Ladhar Bheinn. After an overnight recovery, we then head to the tallest mountain in the British Isles - Ben Nevis. 4409ft later we will arrive at the summit, look below us and realise we have to go all the way back down again!

So why do we feel the need to push ourselves like this? First and foremost, there is nothing like doing something for a good cause. Knowing that any money we can raise for these great charities can make a real difference to any given person's life is motivation enough, without our own personal goals....

Dan's Story - Over recent years Dan has struggled with a number of injuries and breaks to his leg and knees which resulted in chronic pain and mobility problems. After numerous attempts at strengthening again, only to see the problems re-occur, he is finally back on his feet and pain free, and eager to prove he is up to this challenge!

Chris' Story - In December 08 Chris was diagnosed with a Schwannoma tumor behind his left eye. Upon discovery he was given varied possible outcomes of surgery, ranging from partial / complete loss of vision to death. Luckily he came through the operation with his eye sight still intact, however due to the size/nature of the tumor, a considerable amount of the nerves surrounding the eye had to be removed so he's still very much 'on the mend'!

As you can see, not only do our plans represent a fantastic opportunity to raise funds for a good cause, they also represent a huge personal challenge to the both of us. We would greatly appreciate any support you can give us during our efforts.

If you would like to get in touch with us, then you can e-mail us at: dan-and-chris@hotmail.com, we will also be creating a blog soon to keep you all updated with how we are getting on!

Thnakyou for taking the time to read this, and we hope to hear from you soon!
