Story
Dear Supporter
Thanks for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page.
After riding from London to Paris in 2017 and raising £2,000
for the Teenage Cancer Trust in the process I thought that was it for once-in-a-lifetime experiences. As well as helping an amazing charity to support young people through an incredibly difficult period in their lives I made some friends for life, rode through some unforgettable scenery (and weather!) and felt an incredible sense of achievement when I stood underneath the Eiffel Tower. That’s it I thought, job done and I’ll just go back to tootling around the Cheshire lanes on a Sunday afternoon.
Then they asked me if I fancied a little 360 mile ride through 4 countries to Amsterdam. So here I am on a mission to raise £1,600 and get myself ready for adventure number 2. Here’s what I’ve signed myself up for:
Day 1 – London to Calais
My challenge begins bright and early from Crystal Palace park heading south towards the coast. My route winds through the beautiful Kent
countryside before I reach the white cliffs of Dover. From here, I’ll catch the ferry for my first overnight stop in Calais. Just the small matter of 95 miles through some ‘rolling’ countryside.
Day 2 – Calais to Bruges
From Calais I’ll follow the coast through the Belgian border along tree-lined country lanes and picturesque canals before turning inland toward
my evening’s accommodation in beautiful Bruges. A flatter 80 miles in the saddle.
Day 3 – Bruges to Breda
An early start will be needed for the longest day of the trip. A lovely 100 miles through the Dutch countryside.
Day 4 – Breda to Amsterdam
Another long one for the final day but it should be flat and I’ll have the canals, tulips and windmills to help the miles pass by. Just 90 miles between me and the finish line. The reward is a day to myself in Amsterdam on day 5!
Please help me by donating whatever you can spare; I need to
raise a minimum of £1,600.
Thanks for your support and wish me luck…
Dan
