Keech Hospice is a charitable organisation providing free specialist palliative and end-of-life care for adults and children in Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, and Milton Keynes. With a mission to help people live well and die with dignity.

Story

Many of you will know that when it comes to running I like a challenge. Last year I attempted 9 half marathons and this year I’m going to try something even more crazy! I had set out to run 14 but midway through the year realised that injuries and illness would stop me doing all 14 and 7 would be a much more realistic goal (I'm sure you'll agree that's still quite a few!!!)

The charity I have chosen to run for is Keech Cottage. When I was younger I lost all my hair through something called Alopecia. Although this never affected me in a serious way it was still a lot to come to terms with as a child. This has change my perspective on life and made me realise how lucky I am to be fit and healthy. It is for this reason that I have decided to raise money for a charity that gives so much to people that aren't as lucky as me. Keech Cottage helps people, especially children, faced with challenging illnesses live life to the full by enhancing their lives, easing their pain and bringing comfort to those affected. Their hospice ‘provides emotional and practical support for adults and children diagnosed with a life-limiting condition.’ Their aim ‘is to help patients enjoy the highest quality of life, while also providing vital support for their family and friends.’ We all have such great lives and are able to all do the things we want to do, but what about those that can’t. They need our support. This hospice relies on donations and fundraising for 75% of their funding. We can all do something to help.

Whatever you can donate will be greatly appreciated. Even £1 for each marathon. £1 for me to run 26.2 miles doesn’t sound too bad does it! I will, of course, keep you all updated on how I am getting on.
