Seven-day 168km trek to stamp out FGM and child marriage Husband & wife Patrick Ngigi and Josephine Paissany are trekking from their girls' refuge in Narok, Kenya, to the capital Nairobi to raise funds to rescue girls from female genital mutilation.

Story

After visiting Kenya in 2016 as a volunteer, Dan was amazed by the transformative work the charity 'Mission with a Vision' led by Patrick did. They focus on female empowerment, education, and safety. Not just directly improving the lives of girls at risk of Female Genital Mutilation but influencing and changing public opinion to create longstanding change for girls in Kenya and beyond.

Since 2016 Dan has sponsored a number of rescued girls to go through primary and secondary school and when he heard that Patrick's charity was struggling for funds this year and may not be able to help many girls in need he knew the situation must be dire. So when he heard Patrick was organising a 168km sponsored walk in Kenya, he had to get involved - his half marathon in the ridiculously good-looking inflatable rhino costume will coincide with the end of the sponsored walk of Patrick and his wife in Nairobi.

Having visited the charity himself and remaining an active fundraiser since he has seen firsthand the impact donations have made to truly transform girls' lives. Patrick's charity doesn't waste money, indeed, he runs the charity on a shoestring budget at the best of times with almost every penny raised going directly to getting girls out of danger and into safety. Therefore, if you're looking to donate to a charity with a good bang for your buck - then you've come to the right place!

Every donation small and large has the potential to have a huge real life impact to girls lives in Kenya - so please do give as generously as you see fit!
