Story

Hike, Run, Bike Challenge 2022

In August 2022, Daniel Yeates and Dave Dawkins have set themselves a three-day challenge (Daniel’s idea) to raise money for the Cheltenham Hospital Oncology department (FOCUS) and their CT Scanner Appeal. Too many of their nearest and dearest have had to confront, and battle with the horrible disease, cancer.

In recent months Daniel’s sister (Melanie Burger) is going through the challenges of cancer treatment and Dave’s Mum, Dad, and wife (Sonia) have had cancer and his sister is just starting her cancer journey. Daniel and Dave want to show support for their families by completing this challenge and raising money for FOCUS. By raising much needed funds, FOCUS can continue to provide incredible care to current and future patients.

Their challenge will consist of:

Day 1 – 19th August - hike up Snowdon

Day 2 – 20th August – run a half marathon

Day 3 – 21st August – bike 100km off road around the Cotswolds

Daniel and Dave are part of the Thursday Night Mountain-bikers who can be found year-round getting muddy on Cleeve Hill and beyond! Some of this group also have loved-ones who have been affected by cancer and currently Dave Busby’s wife (Alison) is undergoing cancer treatment. Many of the group (and some of their better-halves) will join Daniel and Dave for one (or more) of the three challenges above.

We would be grateful if you could sponsor us to help raise as much as we can for this deserving cause.

Our CT Scanner Appeal: Cheltenham and Gloucester Hospitals Charity need your help to raise £600,000 to buy a new state-of-the-art CT Gamma Scanner. This new technology could help more than 4,000 patients every year in the county.
