In 2015 I lost two grandparents within a 4 week period. Both had an enormous influence on my life and I'm thankful to Weston hospice care for being there to provide excellent end of life care, ensuring a comfortable and dignified last few days. 

Having successfully applied (and failed) a previous 8 times to get into the London Marathon through the ballot process, this year (the year in which I have a young baby) was obviously going to be the one year when I do get in. I should probably state at this point that having only ever completed one full marathon before, I vowed at the end of it to NEVER do another one again. The temptation of London, the challenge and the possibility of beating (optimistic) my previous (not great) time however has proved too difficult to resist.
