It’s with great enthusiasm (and a little trepidation) that I’m asking for your support.  Occasionally on the weekends, I will jog a couple of miles but to call myself a runner would be an overstatement.  On September 29^th, 2018, however, I will run a half marathon (that’s over 13 miles) in the Run The Hamptons Marathon & Half for Team T.J. Martell, which is an athletic endurance team dedicated to raising funds for cancer research in support of the work of the T.J. Martell Foundation. 

This incredible foundation has raised more than $280 million dollars for innovative cancer research at flagship hospitals in the United States. Their funding goes to cutting-edge science that turns into clinical trials and new drug discoveries that extend and save lives.  They also serve as a critical resource in connecting patients with the doctors they need.

My personal goal is to raise $2,000 for the Foundation through my participation in the Hampton’s Run.  Your tax-deductible contribution will help pay for dearly needed cancer research and support the work of the Foundation.  If you’ve already contributed following receipt of similar emails from my colleagues and teammates Joe, Cindy or Steve (our team leader), you’re off the hook as all donations go to the same place, but if you have not already given, no donation is too small. As is the case with so many of us, I’ve have both family and friends that have had to face the ravages of cancer.  I do not take my health for granted, so I consider it a privilege to play a small part in contributing to the work of the T.J. Martell Foundation and my ability to run in support of this vital cause.
