The Salvation Army - London Marathon 2024
Campaign by The Salvation Army (RCN 214779 and in Scotland SC009359)
Homelessness is a reality of our society. From our Lifehouses to addiction support, the services we offer put the person and their needs at the centre, enabling people to take control of their life circumstances.

Story

The Salvation Army has always been a huge part of my life as I have grown up seeing the influence that they have on so many lives.

It is vital that we push ourselves in ways to help organisations like this continue to battle with such big issues in our world.

This is why I have chosen to run the London Marathon to raise money to help tackle modern slavery.

The Salvation Army provides specialist support to protect and care for all adult survivors of modern slavery in England and Wales through a government contract which was first awarded in 2011 and extended in 2021.

Our care of survivors of modern slavery has highlighted the exploitation of both men and women in a variety of ways including forced labour on farms, in factories, on building sites, in car washes, nail bars, and criminal activity such as cannabis farming as well as sexual exploitation and domestic servitude, some suffering domestic abuse.

The Salvation Army provides and coordinates Safe Houses, and outreach support for such survivors. Each resident receiving Salvation Army support is respected and valued as an individual and the support they are offered is holistic and tailored to meet individual needs.

This is why I need your help to raise money for this important issue we face today.

To give you an idea of what your money can do to help:

£9 will help to provide support and advice for a homeless person in a centre.

£25 will help to provide emergency practical support for a family in crisis.

£1500 will help fund 10 survivors of trafficking on a baking and cooking skills course.

Of course all donations will be super helpful to help this great cause and by getting together we can all help make a change to some lives and in this world that can be a struggle to so many its so important that we reach out and help in any way we can.

So thank you friends for all of your help and support.

We can make a difference :)
