I have observed RAID's legal work in Africa for over a decade and it has been impressive. As a small organization it has fearlessly documented human rights abuses by mining companies and stood with the victims as they tried to obtain redress - often over many years. Sometimes the cases seemed hopeless, but RAID's staff were not cowed and have shown incredible tenacity and determination. They have had more wins then I could ever have imagined.

Now its my turn. I do not have much time to train (about three weeks), but I would love to raise some money for RAID.  I may have to be carried to the finish line but I have every intention of finishing this race.  I would be so grateful for any and all donations.  

I am running this race with Marilyn Croser of the corporate responsibility coalition (CORE) so together we should prove an attractive investment opportunity for a hedge fund.
