Isle of Wight Challenge 2019 · 4 May 2019 to 5 May 2019 ·

Great challenges need great settings, and none are better than the Island's magical coastal path. Over 2,000 adventurers - of all experience levels and ages - will take on the Isle of Wight in May.

Story

The challenge has been set - I am doing this crazy challenge for a very worthwhile cause. hoping to run/jog/walk in under 20 hrs!

Alzheimer's is a horrible condition which affects 1000s of people. We have witnessed first hand how cruel it is and the impact it has on Family day to day life as the Dementia progresses.

Dementia can affect anyone. There are currently over 850,000 people with dementia in the UK, and this figure will rise to 1 million by 2025. Dementia is terminal and there is currently no cure. One in three people over 65 will die with dementia.

The Alzheimer’s Society supports people to live well with dementia today and funds research to find a cure for tomorrow. They provide information and support for people with all types of dementia, their families and their carers, touching the lives of over 30,000 people every week.

They campaign and lobby to influence government policy and raise awareness and understanding of dementia as well as funding research into the cause, cure and care of dementia. They rely on voluntary contributions to carry on our vital work, and that’s why your sponsorship will make such a difference.

Raising just £372 could pay for a person with dementia to attend a weekly Singing for the Brain® session for an entire year, helping to improve communication, build confidence and reduce stress.
