Welcome to our 2020 London marathon page!

Story

Hi All,

Many thanks for popping by and having a little look at my JustGiving page.

I guess you are wondering why you are here….well I have decided to run the London Marathon 2020…okay I heard that, stop laughing…I mean it….I am serious….I AM and yes I am aware that it is 26.2 miles…..What?! 26.2 miles, I feel all weak at the knees just thinking about it.

So now you are thinking why on earth is he running the London Marathon 2020, that my friend is a very good question but let me start by telling you which charity I am raising money for.…….the charity is Action for M.E.

As you scroll down you will see I have included some information on this debilitating illness and also who Action for M.E. are.

What is M.E.?

Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (M.E.) is a long-term (chronic), fluctuating, neurological condition that causes symptoms affecting many body systems, more commonly the nervous and immune systems. M.E.
affects an estimated 250,000 people in the UK, and around 17 million people worldwide. People with M.E. experience debilitating
pain, fatigue and a range of other symptoms associated with post-exertional malaise, the body and brain’s inability to recover after expending even small amounts of energy.

Who are Action for M.E.?

Action for M.E. takes action to end the ignorance, injustice and neglect faced by people with M.E. They do this by meeting the need now to improve the lives of people with M.E. while taking action to secure change for the future.

Alongside providing targeted information, support and advice to children, young people and adults with M.E., they
offer peer-support services that reduce the isolation that so often comes with M.E. They work closely with professionals and
policy-makers to improve access to appropriate care and support
services, and
collaborate with scientists, patients and clinicians to
move biomedical research forward, including
funding PhD
studentships
.

Now I know you guys are a generous bunch and I am sure you have supported many different charities thus far, but I really need your support guys. I have seen first-hand the affect this illness has on my wife’s life, as well as experiencing the impact on our life together.

I would be so grateful for any donations and whilst I am no expert on this illness, I am happy to share any information, should you have any questions. If you feel you would like to send me any advice or encouragement, this will also be warmly received.

Thanks so much

Dan
