London Marathon 2019 · 28 April 2019 ·

Jami is here for young people and adults whose mental illness and distress makes everyday life a struggle. We guide them through their mental health recovery, support their families and carers, and educate community leaders to build our collective resilience.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As I sit and write this, I am faced with the harsh reality of what I am about to embark on. Precisely 199 days from today, I will be at the start line with over 40,000 people ready to take on the famous 26.2 mile "run" around London.

I don't claim to be a keen road runner (this is about to change as I embark on a grueling 20+ week training regime)but taking part in the London Marathon is something that I have always wanted to do. After three consecutive failed public ballot attempts I decided to explore the idea of a charity place and I am so grateful to Jami for accepting me onto their team. Mental Health is something that affects at least one in four of us and Jami are both leaders and innovators in this field. You only have to visit the Head Room Cafe in NW11 to see some of the amazing work that this charity does. This is such a great cause and I am honoured to be running on their behalf.

Not only have Jami provided me with the opportunity to take part in what is probably the greatest race in the world but they are also allowing me to split my fundraising between Jami and The No Surrender Charitable Trust. These two brilliant causes are so deserving of support.

Jami

Jami provides essential mental health services to the Jewish community. Statistics show that 1 in 4 British adults experience a mental health problem each year, showing mental health touches us all. Jami's focus is recovery - whether that be visiting a Jami centre or finding work after time away.  Find out more by visiting www.jamiuk.org

The No Surrender Charitable Trust

For those that know me, you may already know about No Surrender. For those that don't, here is a brief overview of the work that they do.

Setup by Jason Boas in 2007, The No Surrender Charitable Trust raises funds for research into cancer affecting young adults and all people with cancer with the worlds leading Oncologists. It also provides services to young adults who have been diagnosed with cancer.
