London Marathon 2019 & Brighton Marathon 2019 · 14 April 2019

The Sick Children’s Trust is the charity that gives families with a seriously ill child in hospital a comfortable place to stay and a friendly ear to listen in one of our ten ‘Homes from Home’. By providing families with somewhere to stay near their child they have one less thing to worry about.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In April 2019 I will be running both the London and Brighton marathons, to raise money for The Sick Children’s Trust.

Never having run a marathon before I have decided to run two in a fortnight for such a worthy cause! The Sick Children’s Trust provide ‘Home from Home’ accommodation near to hospitals in the UK to support the families of sick children when they need it the most.

I first discovered the charity when my son was admitted to The Royal London hospital at 3 weeks old, and ultimately had to undergo surgery whilst there. The hospital can only provide accommodation for one parent so having somewhere to stay nearby at this time was invaluable. It meant that both parents could be there to support him and each other, which is such an important thing to any family in that situation, particularly for those having to travel hundreds of miles for the specialist care their child needs.

Being a smaller charity, they are allocated only 5 spaces for The London Marathon and I feel honoured to have been chosen to run for them. As such I want to raise as much as possible, any donations will be greatly appreciated by myself and The Sick Children’s Trust and I thank everyone in advance for their support.

Thanks for reading, I will endeavour to keep the page updated with other fundraising events and my training!!
