The individual challenge is 62 miles, but we have decided as an office we are taking on the challenge of 1,000 Miles between the team in March for Bliss, the UK's leading charity helping babies born premature or full-term, but sick.
Haines Watts Wolverhampton have decided to take on this challenge as an office team, undertaking to complete 1,000 miles between us during March, and raising as much money as possible.
You may have met our Audit and Accounts Senior, Daniel Ingleby.
Daniel was born very premature, having been born at 26 weeks, and weighing just 1lb 15oz (less than one kilo). He was critically ill and immediately surrounded by machines in the neo-natal unit, Bliss, at New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton. The machines, costing around £75,000, were the only thing keeping him alive. Despite his parents being told that he had just a 50% chance of survival, Daniel spent the next 96 days in hospital. During this time, he had septicaemia twice, a recurring bowel infection, chronic lung disease requiring constant oxygen and detached retinas to both eyes requiring laser surgery. Daniel left hospital at 3 months old weighing in at 5lbs 4oz. This was over 25 years ago, and Bliss continue to help premature and sick babies to this day.
1 in every 7 babies born in the UK will need specialist neonatal care, which means thousands of babies and their families seek information and support from Bliss every year.
By sponsoring us, your donation will help Bliss continue their work to ensure that every baby born premature or full-term who needs neonatal care will have the best chance of survival and quality of life.
