Story
When I was 7 years of age, the Rosenfeld family moved next door to my family home in Edgware. The Rosenfelds and The Corneys soon became firm friends always in and out of each others houses. Doron, a few months older than me and I will always share happy memories of this time.
Our lives were in fact stangely similar. We attended the same school, had similar friends and both had fathers who were priming us to take over their businesses. We believed our lives would continue to follow similar paths and to an extent they have. Get married, have children, live somewhere in North West London.
This is where our established commonality has ceased to exist. For last year Doron and his wife Kerry received the devastating news that their eldest child and only son, Gavriel had Duchenne muscular dystrophy. This is news that has not only shattered their lives but also those of all the people that know and love them as truly wonderful people.
We are raising funds in aid of the Gavriel Meir Trust, which was recently established when Gavriel Meir Rosenfeld, a gorgeous 5 year old boy, was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy; a degenerative terminal muscle wasting disease.
we are cycling 75km around London.
The funds raised will go towards funding critical research projects aimed at identifying a cure (and effective treatments), for this life shattering condition- a genetic condition that affects 1 in every 3500 males born. The various research projects being funded by the trust are not only for the less common strain (which Gavriel has), but also covers projects that will hopefully lead to a cure for all boys who have this condition.
Please donate generously to this urgent and worthwhile cause. I appeal to you not only as a father of two sons but as somone desperate to help a childhood friend so that once again our paths of life may be parallel.
With much gratitude and appreciation,
Daniel Corney on behalf of The Gavriel meir Trust.
