Story
Ever since being established in 1951, Centre 404 has been working towards a world where people with learning disabilities (LD) and their families have the support they need to enjoy the same rights, freedom, responsibilities, choices and quality of life as people within the wider community.
One of the things Centre 404 feels passionate about is making sure that adults with LD have the support and confidence to keep developing, and keep believing that they too can play a valuable role in adult society. No longer children, they slip through the net of having support plans in place that are tailored and personalised in approach.
Therefore, I am helping to fundraise for two of Centre 404’s clubs that support adults with LD via meaningful community connections and activities, so they can enjoy the best of life and reach their full potential:
Warm and Welcome Wednesday club
A great social opportunity supporting those with lower support needs and focussing on reducing social isolation, improving well-being and increasing independence as well as physical activity. Individuals attending this group are involved in co-designing and delivering sessions themselves.
Out and About club:
These sessions mean a great deal to a lot of our people. They tackle social isolation by getting beneficiaries out and about into different community settings where they can try new things and meet lots of people.
