Story
I'm taking part in the Manchester 10K in May to support families facing dementia across the UK.
Dementia unfortunately affects a lot of families and last year my family became one of those affected. Dementia has a large emotional impact on families who watch someone change so quickly in front of their eyes. Around 225,000 people develop dementia every year. Every donation no matter how big or small can go to Dementia UK, a charity that helps to provide specialist dementia nurses give care to families in need, enabling them to live more positively with dementia.
My Nana has been diagnosed with dementia but keeps a smile on her face and her spirits up as much as she can!. Anyone who knows my Nana knows she is an angel and deserves the world, so I’m going to try my best to raise some money for Dementia UK and those families who unfortunately have to deal with a loved one suffering with dementia.
Anyone who knows me will know this is going to be the biggest struggle as I am the most unfit, but I know that raising money for a charity that helps provide support to families in need of some extra help with dementia will keep me going.
I’m not only taking part in this race for my Nana, but for all families who have been affected by dementia or who may be affected by it in the future.
“Those with dementia are still people, they still have stories and they still have character.”
Thank you :)
