Story
I am running on behalf of the Salisbury Hospice team in this year’s Great South run in Portsmouth on 27th October. I am doing this in memory of my best friend Laur, and to raise money for the hospice who were fantastic in her time of need.
Laur suffered from Ovarian cancer at the young age of 26. Laur was diagnosed in January 2012 and sadly passed away in March 2013. She was my best friend for 17 years and a wonderful person to know and be around. She was a true inspiration while she was ill. Never moaned, remained positive and was always looking forward.
Running 10 miles with such a short amount of time left to train will be tough, but after what Laur went through whilst remaining so strong, it truly feels like nothing.
Salisbury hospice was an amazing place for Laur to spend her last days. They were so accommodating, they let us have pizza and stay late so that Laur could still feel like the lively young woman she was with her friends and family around her. They have always made me feel really welcome there and I want to try and raise as much money as I can for their causes and the incredible work they do.
Thank you Dani
