Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have decided to take part in a sponsored skydive, on July the 22nd 2021, exactly 2 years after being sexually assaulted, however I hid it for 6 months. I wanted to raise awareness for 2 places that helped me through my recovery, the Solace Centre in Cobham who help sexually assaulted people get the help they need. They were all incredible, they had a very homely centre with sofas and blankets. This is the first time I had fully opened up to anyone about this. they helped me by supplying me with a care package full of stuff that can help with basic health and self care needs as it can be extremely hard to keep up with these things, I struggled to even leave the house to get these products as I was so anxious. They also helped me by referring me to hospitals for appointments to check physical injuries and PTSD therapy.
I then got referred to mind matters which is part of the surrey and borders partnership NHS foundation trust, this is the charity that I am raising money for because of the amazing work they did with me. They helped me relive the memories I had that were causing panic attacks, my PTSD, and insomnia. I had therapy which was hypnotism to take me back to the sexual assault, We relived the worst moments, they supported me through each appointment even if I did go in with my hood up, earphones in, sometimes crying and screaming. There were certain songs and words that I couldn’t say or hear which we are STILL working on. The counsellor who worked with me was incredible and I can’t praise her enough for what she did in changing my life around, this is why I want to raise money for them, so more people can have the opportunity that I did and not feel like they need to hide it away out of embarrassment ❤️
