Hi All
Thank you for taking the time to log on and visit my fundraising page. Please feel free to put your hands in your pocket and sponsor me generously!
On the 13 October, 20 Schroders employees including myself will be heading to Bangalore, India for one week. The reason for this is to help local poorly housed quarry workers and their families to build new homes for themselves . More than 60 percent of the country’s estimated 180 million dwellings are temporary or in a dilapidated condition. In urban areas, the poor live under bridges, on train and bus platforms, as well as in crowded slums. India needs some 2.5 million new homes each year, just to keep pace with its growing population. Our aim is to help people who would not otherwise have the opportunity, to litterally build a new life for themselves. So i am offering up my DIY skills for one week, stepping into my steel toe cap boots and hard hat and getting my hands dirty (don't laugh!)
Habitat for Humanity (HfH) is dedicated to eliminating sub-standard housing and homelessness by working with volunteers and communities in need in more than 90 countries around the world to build simple, low-cost housing.
The money raised will help a family build a safe affordable home. Habitat for Humanity volunteers and experts work alongside the families who will own the home. £1235 is the average cost of all the materials and labour needed to build a typical Habitat house in the developing world.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Habitat for Humanity will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.Thank you so much for your support x
