Story

Thank you for visiting my Just Giving page. Yes I know I've done this several times before, I've fleeced everyone for money, we've hit the £10k mark and I'm the most annoying Chugger in the world but I can't do Great North Run without raising at least a couple of quid for Macmillan - it's tradition now!

We all know the story, it's old hat. Scouser gets drunk in bar, starts making bets, has to follow through with them, turns into awful person who gets excited about training gear and Garmins, keeps getting drunk and making bets. But even thought I've done this run before, it doesn't get any easier, in fact it gets worse because you know what's coming next, mainly the last three miles that are a slow and steady uphill slog. It's not a pretty sight.

I'm still paying off my eternal debt to Macmillan who helped my dad in his final days with us when he lost a good fight with the Big C back in 2002. Words can't express the support and kindness shown to both him and my family in our darkest hours, which is why we need to raise as much money as possible so they can continue with the incredible work they do.

In the last 4 years I've been blessed by you lot who have helped raise over £10,000 for Macmillan. Have you any idea how much your donations have done to help those living with cancer? Let's have a little recap shall we?

Just £10 could keep five typical Macmillan information and support centres stocked with all the information resources they need to support people affected by cancer for one hour. £25 could pay for a Macmillan nurse for an hour, helping people living with cancer and their families receive essential medical, practical and emotional support. £50 could pay for a Macmillan Grant that buys someone with cancer a microwave, making it easier for them to prepare their food. Just think about how your donations could help. Please please PLEASE, even if you only have a quid to spare, donate it because every penny counts.

This will be my 5th year doing GNR and I've managed to drag a few people down with me who are all on Team Macmillan: the boyfriend Neal, our lovely housemate Sophie who will be running in memory of her lovely mum, and my favourite victim...MY BOSS.

So on Sunday 13th September I'll be running the Great North Run in memory of my Blue Eyes and favourite man on earth, Pat Whelan who would die laughing if he saw me so much as lace up a pair of trainers and remembering all the lovely people in my life who have kicked cancers arse and live to tell the tale, and those who we've lost and who still miss every day.

Peace, love and light x
